Venus-Earth collision

Claudiu, 17 June 2009

French scientists studying the future of our Solar System concludes that there is a remote chance that in the distant future, billion of years from now, Venus will collide with Earth. This will be a chain of event caused by the destabilization of Mercury’s orbit caused by Jupiter, which will destabilize Mars orbit, getting it closer to Earth, which will lead to Venus orbit alteration, putting our system planet on a collision course with us. This is the result of a computer simulation, that shows that out of 200 Mars approaching scenarios, 48 will involve Earth collisions of some kinds.
